The Back pressure regulator is key for the paint circulating system. The paint will remain good to spray only if the paint composition is not damaged during its circulation in the pipes.
The shear stress done on the paint may separate the pigments which is visible on the painted parts with a color matching issue.
Moreover, the shear stress may create some sediments in the circulating pipes, which either make grain defects on bodies, either may clog filters. If filters are getting obstructed, a higher pressure in the PCS will be required to maintain the correct paint flow, increasing the shear stress again, and the energy consumption of circulating pumps.
