How to half your overspray?
A new way of painting
Conventionnal rotary bell spraying increased a lot the efficiency and capabilities of the painting process. Number of robots decreasing, paintshops are more compact but requires fast motion to cover the complete surface in a short cycle time. Consequently, the paint flow rate increased as well.
The viscious consequence is a lower efficiency : less paint material on the final part compared to the material bought. The difference is mainly the overspray lost during the spraying phase of the transport of the paint from the bell to the part.
This overspray is responsible of :
- wasted paint daily
- covering robots, walls, rails and a regular cleaning workload
- huge volume of conditioned air from ~1 000Nm3/veh to dry and temperate in a booth
- quality appearance due to dried droplets
THE solution for a Great Transfer Efficiency is to reduce the distance of application, the rotary speed, the robotic speed, the high voltage value. Then you can reduce your paintflow and save paint.
BUT giving lower energy to make droplets has consequences on the paint film quality (sagging, pin holes, orange peel).
The new GTE bell cup system is able to keep appearance level as well as turning a lower speed bell cup at a shorter distance with a lower voltage value, and halving the overspray.

The GTE air shroud is using less air than SW or NW air shrouds, to keep a wide pattern and reduce the speed of the air, which avoids rebound on the surface to paint.
You save around 30% of compressed air.
The GTE bell cup is having a high serrated design, with larger diameter compared to standard SW bell system. This larger bell cup compensate the lower rotation speed, and the highly serrated design compensates the lower energy given to generate small droplets.
To summarize : the bell cup gives the finishing quality, the air shroud allows a higher transfer efficiency.
