Description
The Automatic Bell tool Changer (ABC) is giving the ability to the robot to use the right sprayer with the right paint on the right part.
For instance, your paintshop is designed for customed colors. Tailor made paint is usually easier to design for airspray gun application, and more standard paint are designed for rotary bell application. With ABC system, one robot can manage all.
Other case, your paintshop is coating a large variety of parts, different sizes and shapes. The ABC systems allow to switch from small bell cups for narrow pattern to large bell cups for wider pattern, which gives better productivity.
Last case is when your compact paintshop is using same robots for interior & exterior of carbodies. You need the right pattern size for a better transfer efficiency : EC43 NW for interiors, EX65 GTE for exteriors.

How long does the tool changer take?
From one tool to another it is less than 10sec, but the sprayer must be cleaned and empty before, and refilled after having the new tool. Total cycle of color changing + tool changing + cleaning the head takes 30 seconds on Accubell 709 EVO.

What kind of paintshop is needing ABC solution?
Many types of paintshops may need to use a painting tool changer:
- special color paintshop : some paints require a gun process, some other paints require a bell process
- Two process in One booth : BC1 and BC2 in same paintbooth require a high transfer efficiency bell process for BC1 (EC50 SW), and a high finishing bell process for BC2 (EX80 BSW)
- Two zones in One booth : interiors and exteriors (Base Coat 1 or Clear Coat) require a narrow pattern for cut-ins (EC43NW) , and wide pattern for panels (EC50 GTE)
- many sizes of parts for plastics : bumper, spoiler, handler don't have same surface size. They should be coated with the adapted size of bell cup as well (EC35 NW, EC43 NW, EC50 NW, EX65 GTE)
